On 23rd March 2014, Gujarat Samachar has carried my interview regarding the 1st BIB procedure in South Gujarat . Its basically a intragastric ballon which is placed in the stomach. This procedure is not a surgery and does not require anesthesia. The patient is discharged after few hours of procedure. Intragastric balloon for weight loss works best for a well educated patient who is motivated for proper eating habits and exercise. A 500-700ml ballon is placed in stomach endoscopically. Ballon is made of silicon material and causes a sense of fullness and satiety which helps in diet control and thus weight loss. 10-20 kgs of weight loss is expected in obese patients.
