On 23rd March 2014, Gujarat Samachar has carried my interview regarding the 1st BIB procedure in South Gujarat . Its basically a intragastric ballon which is placed in the stomach. This procedure is not a surgery and does not require anesthesia. The patient is discharged after few hours of procedure. Intragastric balloon for weight loss works best for a well educated patient who is motivated for proper eating habits and exercise. A 500-700ml ballon is placed in stomach endoscopically. Ballon is made of silicon material and causes a sense of fullness and satiety which helps in diet control and thus weight loss. 10-20 kgs of weight loss is expected in obese patients. Superobese patients can loose more than 25 kgs of weight. There are no scars in these procedures, so people who are very conscious about their looks and body can also opt for BIB

Recently Sandesh Newspaper had carried my Interview regarding Bariatric Surgery. I am sharing the same with you all. This interview was liked by one and all and generated tremendous buzz and inquires for weight loss procedures.

Today Divya Bhaskar Newspaper carried a article on the talk which we presented on " Recent Advances in Obesity Surgery" in the Surat FPA (Family Physician Association)forum The talk highlighted the present surgical options of weight loss surgery and also the newer options which are being studied for weight loss like SILS, Endoscpic procedures and Intragastric Balloon procedure.

Laparoscopic Sleeve gastrectomy was offerred  to this patient for management of her obesity ( BMI 46). Patient was from Dhulia (Maharastra) and had specifically visited Surat for treatment. She is hypertensive and has hypothyroidism. She had history of previous 4 abdominal surgeries which was a challenge to us considering the adhesions open surgery creates. Patient also had large gall stone (22mm) and wanted removal in the same sitting. Attached are the specimen of remnant stomach and the gall bladder. She was discharged on the 2nd day after surgery.

The Obesity/ Bariatric Surgery camp success was reported in various local newspapers.    This image is from Divya Bhaskar edition on  3-12-2013 dated.     Patients were offered discounted rates of  Rs 1,55,000/-  for Laparoscopic Sleeve gastrectomy.    Patient who could not afford the usual high rates of such procedures had lot of excitement and had attended the camp in good numbers. For the patients who are suffering from hypertension ( Raised Blood pressure ), Diabetes, sleep disturbances, arthritis along with obesity , a camp at discounted rates of  Rs1,55,000/- was conducted at wings hospital.
