Essential Softwares for Medical Professionals


Many of my friends ask me about the Softwares to be installed on their laptops and PC’s. Well there are lots and lots of softwares available in the market. You are really spoiled in choosing them and it’s confusing too. I have listed the softwares which I found easy to understand and operate. It’s not necessary the best in the market, but I am sure it will be really easy to work on. I will rally need your inputs and suggestion in improving this list. This list will surely suffice most of medical software working needs.

My Favorites Softwares:

  1. MS office 2007: This score’s over the 2003, for it takes lesser space and great options in graphics and themes. 2008 is now available in market, but personally I don’t have an experience I using it.
  2. Internet Browser: I really love the Mozilla Firefox 3 version. It’s really faster and much safer to use than explorer.
  3. Antivirus: There are lots of options for these one. I use Bitdefender and I am really happy with it. The other good options are Eset Nod 32 and Kaspersky.
  4. Firewall: I prefer installing Zone alarm software. Its available free download on various sites.
  5. Video converter: Magicbit All in One video converter is one of versatile software to convert various formats of videos to another.
  6. Photo Editor: Paint pro 5 software is one of good software to edit photos. You will be able to compress, sharpen etc the photos. You will be able to label photos and change the formats to tiff, jpeg, raw and more.
  7. Video Editor: Pinnacle is my favorite software. Its one of the very versatile software, it has got a learning curve to it, but once you are comfortable with it, you can impress one and all with your video editing skills.
  8. Media Player: I like VLC and GOM player for video as they both play almost all formats and are free downloads. For audio, I simply love Winamp.
  9. CD/DVD Burning tools: Nero 7/8 version in the best for these purpose
  10. PDF Reader: Adobe Acrobat Pro 8/9 is the best in these category as it not only reads the PDF files but you can edit them and even convert them to other formats with this software.

Maharastra Medical Council CME Guidelines

Medical Science is dynamic and there is no end of learning for a doctor. This is in essence the concept of continuing medical education (CME).
