Laparoscopy Set-up - Camera

I would like to discuss the basics first before starting in detail about the laparoscopy procedures.
So today i will discuss little about what is an ideal or atleast a desired setup for a Advanced Laparoscopic Opertion theatre.

Today we discuss about Camera

Camera :
An Ideal camera for advanced Minimal access surgery is a 3 chip camera. There are many brands available in market like Karl Storz, Maxer, Olympus, B Braun, Stryker. Among these I have used Storz, Maxer and Stryker. According to me, the best images among these three 3 Chip cameras , were in Stryker, Storz and Maxer. Stryker was also the cheaper than Storz. It was also earlier to launch HD ( High Defination) camera, which is much superior than the 3 chip camera.

Karl Storz has too recently lauched the HD version, which although very costly (About 20 lacs) but gives the best image till date. If cost is not a problem, I believe Storz HD is the best camera today.

Strykar company also sells a package of all setup of camera with light source, monitor, insufflator and even recording sofware and hardware too (which comes very handy for surgeons who are not very comfortable with recording issues like burning , editing, etc)

Olympus camera come with the scope which is quite unique in the sense that they have telescope which can turned upto 90 degrees. I have not seen it being used in India, but is commonly used in oriental countries like Japan and Korea. They are very expensive, but the imae qulity is excellent.

For small OT Setups, which are mainly into basic laparoscopy surgery, even single chip camera come handy. I liked again storz and Strykar in single chip category.

What is these Single and 3 chip Business?
Basically, there are chips on which the image form. In single chip the RGB i.e, Red, Green and blue image is formed on one chip, while on 3 chip they are form on separete chip each, and thus a better image and resolution.

Maharastra Medical Council CME Guidelines

Medical Science is dynamic and there is no end of learning for a doctor. This is in essence the concept of continuing medical education (CME). Tremendous advances are taking place in the field of medical sciences, which are continuously changing the concept, approach to management and the outcome of several diseases. The rapid pace of these advances makes it mandatory for doctors to keep themselves updated so that they may apply this information to their patient’s well being and improve the quality of care rendered to them. A doctor must never be satisfied with his/her current level of proficiency and must always strive to enhance his/her competence and knowledge by keeping abreast with the latest developments in the field. The Central Government of India has notified the new Ethics regulations in the Gazette of India on April 16, 2002, provides that “ A Physician should participate in professional meetings as part of Continuing Medical Education Programmes, for at least 30 hours ever
